cosmetic treatmentA survey of over 2,000 adults has found that 74% would be more interested in having cosmetic treatments if they produced natural as opposed to frozen results.

The research was carried out online by Wakefield Research on behalf of Galderma.

This indicates a rejection of the ‘overdone’ treatments which can be sometimes seen in the media, which leave patients looking artificial.

Too much Botox? Anti-wrinkle treatment works by relaxing the muscles controlling fine dynamic facial movements, but when this is heavy-handed, patients can look frozen, lacking expression. Other symptoms of over-Botoxing are a super-smooth forehead which can look waxy, wide awake eyes or very high eyebrows. The results can also be uneven, which looks odd.

Too much dermal filler? This treatment works by adding volume, but using too much filler or putting it in the wrong place can produce a puffy effect, leading to ‘chipmunk’ cheeks or a duck-bill type trout pout.

However, non-surgical treatments can be a very positive and helpful when done correctly. They can tackle the signs of ageing such as lines or wrinkles or improve specific aspects of the appearance such as hollow cheeks or thin or lips. When treatment is carried out by a skilled professional, it can be impossible to tell, as the patient looks fresher and more vibrant, but still retains a natural look.
