older cosmetic treatments

Who has cosmetic treatments?

Non-surgical treatments are chosen by people from all walks of life and for a wide variety of reasons.

There is a common view that they’re most prevalent among those in their 30s and 40s, who are keen to take action on the signs of facial ageing. To a certain extent that may be true. The most popular anti-ageing treatments are Botox and Dermal Fillers and the largest age group for these is 30-50.

However, that is just part of the story. There are many more treatments available and many more people having them.

One thing’s for sure, you’re never too old to start having cosmetic treatment; just as there’s never an age where you have to stop.

Treatments for over 65’s

Over the age of 65, the signs of ageing tend to include lines, wrinkles and creases; particularly around the eyes and mouth, but also on the rest of the face. In addition, the loss of volume can create ‘hollow’ areas on the cheeks or below the eyes. The general change in the skin’s structure also tends to make the jawline less distinct and a lack of firmness adds to the potential for a saggier impression.

Dr Barbara Kubicka has suggested a series of treatments that may be specifically beneficial to those with older skin.

Sculptra

Sculptra is often thought of as a deep filler in that it is an injectable product which creates volume in the skin. However, it doesn’t actually add volume, but stimulates the skin to create its own new stores of collagen. This creates a fuller, fresher and more youthful face. The skin appears firmer and tighter too. Sculptra is available with Dr Barbara Kubicka at Clinicbe based in Knightsbridge.

Thread lift

Thread lift is often referred to as a non-surgical facelift. The procedure uses tiny threads within the skin to ‘lift’ the structure into a higher position. The procedure has an added benefit of creating localised skin renewal and tightening. Dr Barbara Kubicka offers two thread lift options: Silhouette Soft and also the new PDO or PLLA Threads.

Skincare

Getting the right daily skincare routine is a major benefit to everybody. As the skin ages, its needs change and professional reassessment of the right products can make a world of difference. Clinicbe offer top brand cosmeceutical products including many that are prescription only. The selection from a range of well known brands including Obagi, BAKEL and NeoStrata provides an array of choice for bespoke skincare routines.

IPL

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light and is the go-to laser treatment for sun damage, facial redness, pigmentation problems, thread veins, broken capillaries and more. Clinicbe offer IPL treatment and their own innovative Exquisite Facial which combines IPL treatment with a chemical peel for a comprehensive approach to sun damage.

Skin Consultation

Every patient is different with a unique set of requirements. The consultation is the starting point, with discussion of the problems and what the patient is trying to achieve as well as a medical review; after which the doctor can recommend the most appropriate treatments.
