new year skin beautyChristmas, followed by the New Year, can leave your skin looking tired and drained – just when you want a healthy glow the most!

Renowned Aesthetic Medicine Physician Dr Barbara Kubicka believes in treating the person as a whole. Good daily routines benefit her patients mind, body and soul as well as their skin.

Self-Help Treatments for Better New Year Skin

Here are some ideas to follow to help your body recover and face the new year!

What Goes In…

You are what you eat (and drink)

Ensure you take on board plenty of fluid  for good hydration – this doesn’t mean wine or coffee! Offset alcohol consumption with fresh fruit juice and plenty of water. Remember, you can also take on board fluid in what you eat – salad and fruit contain good levels of hydration.

In addition, fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet are incredibly powerful, as they contain a lot of enzymes and help detoxification of your system.

The Magic Hour

Dr Barbara Kubicka’s daily magic hour is designed to keep you on track and well balanced. The magic hour is a bit of “me time” to help you recharge and comprises:

  • 20 minutes of exercise,
  • 20 minutes of deep relaxation
  • 20 minutes of inspiring reading

Exercise?

This doesn’t mean a daily hour in the gym. Gentle but regular exercises can fit into your daily routine if you are committed. Try to find 15 minutes for a walk outdoors and you’ll be amazed how much better you feel. Or instead of jumping in the car to nip to the shops, go on your bike! It can sound like a challenge, but being active can become a way of life.

Zzzzzzz

Regular sleep in sufficient quantities is designed to help your body to recover from whatever you put it through. Whether that is partying, exercise or just chilling out, sleep is a vital part of your life. Ensuring you have deep relaxation during the day (in your “magic hour”) will complement this, by helping you to relax so that you sleep better and achieve a good quality of deep sleep too.

Regular Skincare

This starts with ensuring that your skin is kept clean, moisturised and protected from the sun. It doesn’t have to be complicated and in fact it’s important to choose a regime that you can be consistent with.

Good medical skin care is simple but highly effective.

Professional Skin Treatments

If you’re ready for a bit of extra boost for your skin, then a non-surgical skin treatment could be highly beneficial.

Options include injectable treatments like dermal fillers to troubleshoot lines and wrinkles and/or restore lost volume – or advanced treatments that stimulate your body’s own renewal processes. Mesotherapy is a great option to give skin a fresh and smooth look, tackling the appearance of fine lines which can be exaggerated when you become tired or dehydrated.
