Carboxytherapy Body Treatments

Advanced CO2 Treatment for Body & Skin

Carboxytherapy is an innovative treatment which offers effective results in a wide array of applications, from treating skin conditions and concerns on the body, as well as the signs of ageing.

Carboxytherapy involves microinjection of medical grade CO2. Depending on the area being treated, this can be done ‘subcutaneous’ or ‘intradermal’. This means either beneath the skin in the fat layer, or into the skin’s dermis layer.

How Carboxytherapy Works

  1. Medical-grade carbon dioxide (CO2) is injected into the skin’s subcutaneous tissues
  2. Vasodilation of blood vessels enhances the flow of nutrients and also stimulates collagen production and the release of growth factors
  3. The end result is increased micro-vascularisation and collagen restoration, leading to firmer subcutaneous layer and smoother skin

Carboxytherapy Treatment Benefits

Carboxytherapy treatment works in a number of ways:

  1. Increases oxygen supply to tissues
  2. Kick-starts the body’s own healing and renewal processes
  3. Increased blood flow

This results in new cell growth and improved circulation.

  • Cellulite
  • Stretch marks
  • Scars
  • Circulatory issues
  • Adipose tissue reduction
  • Acne
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Skin laxity
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Post-surgical oedemas

FAQ

Is it safe?

The system is exceptionally safe. high and low pressure sensors to provides additional safety measures.

Is this best as a standalone treatment or combined with other treatments too?

Carboxytherapy can be used both as a stand-alone treatment, or in conjunction with other therapies such as microneedling, high frequency or injectables.

It depends on the condition being treated. We're happy to advise further

What can carboxytherapy treatment be used for?

This is an incredibly versatile treatment. As well as the body treatments outlined, other common treatments carried out are:

How many treatments will I need?

It depends on the condition being treated. Some skin concerns respond quickly to just one session of carboxytherapy. For other conditions, a short course of treatments may be suggested for best results, as each session builds on the previous for better and better outcome.

How does carboxytherapy work?

Carboxytherapy delivers micro injections of sterile CO2 to infuse gaseous carbon dioxide into the subcutaneous or dermal tissue. Carbon Dioxide is a naturally occurring gas in the body, so this is quite a natural concept.

  1. The body interprets the extra CO2 as an oxygen deficit. The body's response to this is to increase blood flow, providing a surge of oxygen and nutrients to the treated area.
  2. The increased blood flow triggers cell renewal responses in the tissue. This also stimulates the breakdown of fat cells and scar tissue.
  3. Carboxytherapy also has effects on vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGF). It stimulates neoangiogenesis and fibroblast synthesis, consequently leading to better wound healing and collagen production.

Does it hurt?

This is not normally an uncomfortable treatment, although it depends on the area being treated. If required, we can offer a local anaesthetic cream so that treatment is painless.

An ice pack will be available if required to calm any swelling immediately after treatment.

Can I combine Carboxytherapy with other treatments?

Absolutely, carboxytherapy accelerates wound healing, so it works very well with other treatments, such as mesotherapy, PRP and injection lipolysis (fat reduction injections). Combination is safe and cost effective with better results and less down time. Examples of combination include:

  • For patients with Stretch marks, Carboxytherapy into the stretch marks stimulates collagen production which then remodels and shrinks the stretch mark to improve the appearance. Amazing results are achieved when used in combination with Dermapen (micro-needling).
  • For body, to improve skin texture especially for cellulite by improving circulation to the affected area dramatically, Carboxytherapy can be safely combined with mesotherapy.
  • For body sculpting to break down unwanted fatty deposits, Carboxytherapy can be combined with fat dissolving injections (Aqualyx/Celluform) or with cryotherapy for centimetre loss. Post liposuction irregular adiposities which are a common phenomenon, are evened out.
  • For the upper knees and bingo wings we can either combine Carboxytherapy with fat dissolving injections (Aqualyx/Celluform) or with mesotherapy to improve saggy skin for new collagen stimulation.

Will I need any time off to recover?

Patients can usually return to work or normal activities immediately after treatment.

When will I see results?

This depends on the condition being treated and we will advise on this during your consultation. We can also advise before you book if that's helpful.

Some results are seen very quickly, but others may require a little time for the body's responses to work, whether that is in renewing skin cells or breaking down fat/wounds.
