CQC Registered Skin & Hair Loss Clinic, London

clinicbe receptionClinicbe®, Kensington & Chelsea

CQC (Care Quality Commission) is not mandatory for all skin clinics in the UK, but as a doctor-led medical-based practice with very high clinical standards, London-based Clinicbe® is fully registered and accountable.

Creating a CQC environment means that our patients can be confident about the service they will receive. The CQC demands a rigour that many clinics prefer not to expose themselves to, but at Clinicbe®, the team embrace the challenge of delivering excellence in clinical standards and patient experience; whether that is for a facial, a doctor-led skin treatment, fat freezing, health tests or a non-surgical hair loss and scalp treatment.

CQC registration also means that Clinicbe® is able to carry out the PDO thread lift – a popular anti-ageing procedure which should not be administered unless the practise is CQC registered.

What is the CQC?

The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England. Its purpose is to make sure that health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care; and to encourage care services to improve.

The CQC describes its role as:

“We monitor, inspect and regulate services to make sure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety and we publish what we find, including performance ratings to help people choose care.”

CQC Fundamental Standards

The CQC publishes a set of fundamental standards which all patients have the right to expect. These are:

  • Person-centred care – tailored to individual needs and preferences
  • Dignity and respect – including privacy and treating others as equals
  • Consent – prior to any treatment
  • Safety – ensuring competence of those providing treatment
  • Safeguarding
  • Food and drink – suitable provision
  • Premises and equipment – clean, suitable and well maintained
  • Complaints system – route for investigation and action
  • Good governance – systems to check on quality and safety
  • Staffing – including training, support and supervision
  • Fit and proper staff – strong recruitment including background checks
  • Duty of candour – open and transparent approach to care and treatment
  • Display of ratings – on the premises and website

CQC Inspections

Registration with the Care Quality Commission demands a commitment to high standards throughout, from service to protocols, and CQC registered companies are regularly audited to check that they meet the high standards.

The CQC assess the same five key points for all the services inspected, whether they are a hospital, care home or skin and hair treatment practice like Clinicbe.

  • Safety – are clients protected from abuse and avoidable harm
  • Effectiveness – does patient care, treatment and support achieve good outcomes, helping them to maintain quality of life based on the best available evidence
  • Caring – do staff involve and treat patients you with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect.
  • Responsive to people’s needs – are services organised so that they meet clients’ needs.
  • Well-led – do the leadership, management and governance of the organisation make sure it’s providing high-quality care that’s based around individual needs, encouraging learning and innovation and promoting an open and fair culture

These assessments can include:

  • Site visits
  • Interviews with key managers
  • Detailed review of how the service will be run
