As well as being one of London’s top skin treatment doctors, Dr Barbara Kubicka has a high profile in the world of motor-racing too.
She was recently featured on the website HelloMagnify, who visited her Knightsbridge skin clinic for a full interview.
Their Magnify Musings reporter wrote a full and detailed feature about Dr Kubicka’s life in Poland, her training and studies and her motor racing experiences which led to her participating in the 2013 Ginetta GT5 Challenge.
A top student, Barbara devoted herself to excelling in studies from an early age. However, her real passion was driving:
‘Driving gives me a sense of freedom. You can go wherever you want. Perhaps initially it was the feeling of control… but it’s different. The car is in control. With high performance sports you have to forget about everything else, nothing else exists. You are completely present – it’s a taste of heaven.’
Unfortunately, a major crash saw her flipped upside down and seriously injured for months. It was an experience that deepened her personal Christian faith and gave her further determination to succeed, as Barbara explained:
Happiness is a choice – we have to see our setbacks as opportunities.
It’s about me letting go and trusting Him (God).
When bad things happen it’s about running back to Him.

For Kubicka, perseverance is a daily choice. To choose to change. To not stop when things go wrong but to run the race to the finish line no matter how long it takes. Persevering is part of living.
