Nuit Magazine interviewed Dr Barbara Kubicka about the injectable treatment to get her opinion on how to achieve a more youthful look without surgery using dermal filler injections, explaining:
“Dermal fillers can be used anywhere on the body where increased volume is needed. As we get older our skin loses high levels of Hyaluronic Acid which is the main substance for our skins fullness, so injectable fillers are used to target those areas and re-add the volume. In addition, it can also be used to smoothen out fine lines and to help achieve a younger looking complexion.”
If required, fillers are even reversible, using an injection of hyaluronidase to melt down the hyaluronic acid – a further advantage compared to surgery, which is generally irreversible.
The article explains that the procedure takes around 30 minutes and is rarely uncomfortable, thanks to the use of numbing creams. In fact, most modern fillers now incorporate a local anaesthetic. Results depend on the area being treated – they can last up to 12 months for facial volume fillers, while lip fillers may be 4-6 months.
