Glamour Mag at Clinicbe: How Microdermabrasion Works

“I tried microdermabrasion to cure my blackheads and was amazed with the results”

Beauty journalist Elle Turner of Glamour magazine was thrilled with the results of microdermabrasion treatment at Clinicbe, which was carried out to improve stubborn blackheads.

The review published on Glamour explored how this popular treatment works with input from Clinicbe founder and renowned Aesthetic Physician, Dr Barbara Kubicka.

How does microdermabrasion work?

Dr Kubicka told Glamour magazine:

“Microdiamonds on the surface of the device tip mechanically remove dead skin, while a suction method helps with lymphatic drainage and circulation, alongside removal of sebum [the oily substance that creates spots] in pores.”

Glamour mag describes the treatment as:

“…a super-powered exfoliation that gets deep into pores and buffs skin’s surface to perfection.”

What is it good for?

Dr Kubicka says:

“Microdermabrasion tends to be best for oily and congested skin”

It is best avoided where there is active inflammation, but works well on breakouts, blocked pores, dull complexions and sun damage. As well as whisking away dead skin cells and excess sebum, Dr Kubicka says the resurfacing action will also help to lighten pigmentation such as sun spots.

Does it work on all skin types?

Dr Kubicka replies:

“All skin types can benefit from microdermabrasion but the strength of suction and grit of diamonds needs to be adjusted depending on the skin thickness and sensitivity.”

She adds that it may be too harsh for clients with particularly sensitive skin.

3 in 1 Microdermabrasion

The microdermasion system used at Clinicbe incorporates 3 treatments in one for excellent results:

  1. Exfoliation using gentle yet effective microdiamonds to lift dead skin cells, release buildup of sebum and resurface the skin
  2. Extraction using suction to whisk away debris and at the same time, also boost circulation/lymphatic drainage
  3. Infusion with carefully chosen serums and lotions, pushed into the skin while exfoliation and extraction are being completed. Solutions are chosen to suit the client’s skin type and needs e.g. hyaluronic acid can help moisture-retention and fight the sign of ageing, vitamin C is great to brighten and stimulate the skin
