glamourGlamour magazine looked into the potential of microdermabrasion treatment for blackheads, oily skin and acne at Clinicbe. Beauty journalist Elle Turner visited to learn more and try a treatment for stubborn blackheads in a feature entitled:

“I tried microdermabrasion to cure my blackheads and was amazed with the results”

Her glowing review shows that microdermabrasion can indeed be a very effective solution for stubborn blackheads.

Microdermabrasion for Blackheads

Clinicbe founder and renowned Aesthetic Physician, Dr Barbara Kubicka explains how microdermabrasion can improve the appearance of blackheads:

“When it comes to blackheads, the suction method pulls out sebum from the skin and through micro lymphatic draining brings it to the surface.”

A key feature of the diamond-assisted microdermabrasion on offer at Clinicbe is that it does not only tackle the larger blackheads on the surface of the skin, but also reaches the smaller and deeper ones that tend to be harder to get at. The suction loosens these stubborn ones so that they can make their way up to the skin’s surface. Therefore the ultra stubborn ones can make their way naturally to the surface where every day treatment can reach them.

Products for Blackhead Treatment

After microdermabrasion treatment, follow up at home is very important to work on those that were not removed directly by microdermabrasion, but are loosened and making their way to the skin’s surface.

Dr Kubicka suggests the best product choices after microdermabrasion for patients with blackheads:

“Using mixed acids like glycolic, mandelic and even salicylic are really effective.”

These each work in different ways:

  • Glycolic acid and has exfoliating benefits
  • Mandelic is gentler
  • Salicylic gets deeper down into pores to unplug them

Dr Kubicka continues:

“For at home maintenance a daily exfoliating wash is pretty effective at keeping blackheads under control.

“Ensure that you’re cleansing your skin daily and thoroughly, especially in the evenings.

“Use light non-comedogenic [non pore-blocking] moisturisers and serums as part of your regular regime and opt for mineral based makeup.”

Glamour magazine adds a piece of cosmetic advice for those prone to blackheads:

“Long-wear foundations are one of the main culprits for rooting itself deep in our skin, so while they may make it through the day, you’re best off opting for something lightweight”
