Non-Surgical Hair Loss Treatments

Thinning of the hair, and hair-loss is a common occurrence for both men, and women.

Men and women experiencing the loss of hair can find this quite distressing and often suffer with a loss of confidence and self-consciousness, sometimes even leading to depression, which can further exacerbate the condition. In some cases, the hair-loss may be permanent, particularly if the issue has been left untreated for a long period of time. At this point, the condition has progressed to complete death of the hair follicle, or in cases where scarring is present, hair may not be able to ever grow from that follicle again, or the quality may be greatly compromised.

The good news is that hair loss is no longer something you just have to ‘put up with’. Nor does it mean having expensive and invasive surgery.

In many cases, if the issue is addressed early enough, there are steps that can be taken to firstly, prevent what may be causing the hair loss, and secondly, stimulate the growth of new hair.

Dr Barbara Kubicka at Clinicbe® based in Knightsbridge offers a range of non-surgical solutions for hair loss, which work to promote natural retention of hair and better scalp health.

Before & After Treatment Photos

7-Step Treatment

Rather than rely on one particular method, the approach at Clinicbe® is based on firstly understanding the nature of the hair loss and then combining a number of approaches. We can combine any or all of these as required to suit the needs of the patient and their very individual circumstances as well as the pattern of hair loss. Our approach to treatment is completely ‘non-surgical’ and ‘non-invasive’.

  1. Consultation, Trichoscopy & Oligoscan
At your initial consultation, we will carry out a full trichoscopy examination to see at high magnification whether there are any physical issues with the hair, follicles, skin or scalp. We also use OligoScan to check on whether there are any mineral deficiencies, or an intoxication of heavy metals, which may be contributing to the loss of hair. Having a detailed consultation is key to understanding the causes of your hair loss and therefore providing the most appropriate treatment plan.
  2. Detox
Steam will be used to gently warm the scalp, opening the pores to aid the release of any toxins and impurities that may be clogging the follicles An exfoliating blend of alpha and beta hydroxy acids will then be applied to the scalp to reach deeper into the follicles, breaking down any build up, and allowing the space for new hair to grow freely This will also increase stimulation of the circulation.
  3. Nutrition
In the case of vitamin and mineral deficiencies, RRS XL hair will be applied to the scalp during and after the Dermapen. This is a solution made up of hyaluronic acid, vitamins, amino acids, growth factors and other nutrients to provide the scalp and hair with all of the components, that are essential for maintaining the optimal health. This solution is advantageous for all hair loss conditions but is ideal for hair that has been damaged by stressful hair styling products, techniques as well as weak, thinning hair.
  4. Stimulation
People who have visible balding, will need something to stimulate the growth of new hair, so can benefit from a solution of peptides and growth factors. Peptides are smaller articles of protein, which act as messengers, signalling to stimulate the growth of new hair. The growth factors used, are small peptides that directly stimulate the growth of specific tissues, which in this case is hair. This solution is applied to the scalp during and after use with the Dermapen.
  5. Intense Stimulation
Using Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), can have a more substantial impact towards stimulating new growth. With this method, your own blood is taken from the arm and placed into a special centrifuge machine. This machine separates the plasma, which is very rich in growth factors along with other nutrients. The Plasma is then applied to the scalp, whilst the dermapen is being used and enters the skin through the piercing’s to nourish the skin and roots of the hair. This method provides intense stimulation because it utilises the patients own DNA, so the body is much more receptive to it. This method is strongly advisable for moderate to severe balding.
  6. Homecare
We offer a range of home care products, which are designed to stimulate growth and prevent excessive shedding. These products range from medicated Shampoos and conditioners, to prescriptive preparations that need to be applied directly to the scalp. The appropriate home care products will be selected at your consultation, according to your individual condition.
  7. Supplements
In addition to the topical products given for homecare use, we also recommend supplements which can be taken orally, or injected for better absorption. The use of supplements can be beneficial in all cases of hair loss, as good nutrition will result in the growth of healthy, strong hair.

NEW Red Light Hair Stimulation

The clinic also now offers red light hair stimulation which can be of benefit in protecting the hair and scalp both during and following non-surgical treatments.

Causes of Hair Loss

There are many different factors that can lead to the loss of hair, some of which can cause permanent baldness or thinning. Understanding the characteristics of the shedding is important as it can help to identify what factors may be causing the issue, so that it can be addressed.

Issues that we’ll review in your hair consultation include:

  1. Genetics
One of the most common causes for thinning hair and hair loss is that it is inherited
  2. Hormones
Drop in oestrogen after pregnancy or menopause can often cause a change in the fullness of hair in women
  3. Nutrition
Deficiencies in certain vitamins and minerals could cause thin or unhealthy hair
  4. Stress
Our modern lifestyle and busyness can affect hormones and cause tension, leading to hair issues
  5. Hair Styling
Prolonged tension with braids or ponytails can cause weakening of the hairs, leading to breakage and alopecia
  6. Medical Conditions & Medications
There are a range of medical conditions or other medications that can interfere with the health of hair and scalp
