Prepare for Sun and Snow!

Skiing is fabulous on so many levels – exercise, fresh air, socialising – but not so great for your skin.

On the one hand, being at altitude exposes the skin to more intense sun at a time of year when it has very little natural tan at all.  High SPF factors are a must, but skin can still burn and be damaged by the intensity of UVA and UVB rays.

On the other hand, the very cold and dry environment can also cause problems. It is very drying for the skin, even with thick creams to protect it. This can lead to it looking tired, aged or even cause acne breakouts.

In addition, the movement from very cold to very warm environments causes the facial veins to dilate and can cause broken blood vessels, capillaries and thread veins.

This year why not have a treatment before going skiing to give it a boost, making it healthier and more resilient to the harsh outdoor environment.

Pre-Ski Treatments

Plasma Shower

Plasma Shower is an innovative treatment which delivers plasma energy to the skin.

This triggers a series of biochemical processes to stimulate the skin’s healing and regeneration processes, making it healthier from the inside out. It promotes a clearer complexion, improves skin tone and tightens the skin too.

Photo Shower

Photo shower is a new and innovative adaptation of IPL (intense pulsed light) treatment.

The treatment delivers light energy to the skin, where it works to stimulate healing and cell renewal, making it fresher, smoother and brighter.

Pre-Ski Skin Care

Having these treatments before skiing puts your skin in a healthier condition before you start.  You will still need high sun protection SPF50+ and reapply regularly. Don’t forget the lips, which will need a specialist SPF lip balm to protect them from sun and drying out. If you stop for lunch, you’ll also need to apply sunscreen to any further areas that become exposed while you rest (e.g. hands, neck, decolletage).

After-Ski Treatments

After skiing, you may want to consider having a skin treatment to troubleshoot any particular damage. Depending on the problem there are a host of solutions. Very dry skin with poor complexion may be improved with mesotherapy or SKINBOOSTER injections. Pigmentation problems or vein problems can be helped with IPL or advanced electrolysis.
