Injections for Treating Thread Veins

cosmetic injectionsMany adults struggle with the appearance of thread veins.

The are a very common phenomenon – one study that looked at more than 1,500 people found 84% had spider veins on their right leg alone!

Thread veins can appear particularly on the legs and also the face. They tend to become more visible as the skin loses elasticity.

What Causes Thread Veins?

Thread veins are caused by an accumulation of blood dilating a particular vessel or web of veins. They are not considered medically harmful, as the blood is able to flow more efficiently through other, deeper, larger veins. However, the localised backup of blood causes thread veins to become enlarged and therefore more visible at the surface of the skin.

Simple DIY Measures to Avoid Thread Veins

Some people are simply more prone to thread veins and genetics does play a part, but there are some simple DIY measures which can make them less likely to strike:

  • Get up for a brief walk every hour to avoid pressure on the veins caused by standing/sitting for too long
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Consider compression stockings if you’re on your feet a lot
  • Exercise boosts the circulation, strengthens muscles and aids healthy weight – ensure that you are active enough

Microsclerotherapy Treatment

If thread veins are well-established, they are very unlikely to simply ‘get better’ as the vein is damaged.

Microsclerotherapy is a procedure that uses a very fine needle to inject a special solution directly into the vein, causing it to gradually disappear.

At Clinicbe, microsclerotherapy may be carried out by the Aesthetic Nurse who works closely with Dr Kubicka at Clinicbe. Treatment costs from £375 for a single session.
