Support for your Menopause Journey

What is menopause?

Menopause is the process occurring in woman, typically between the ages of 45 and 55 years, where the periods stop due to naturally decreasing hormone levels.

How can menopause affect the individuals and their bodies?

Menopause can affect women very differently. Some may experience more emotional symptoms, some may experience more physical symptoms, whilst others may not experience any at all.

Examples of mental health/emotional symptoms are:

  • Anxiety
  • Mood swings
  • Brain fog

Examples of physical symptoms are:

  • Hot flushes/excessive sweating
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Increase of facial/body hair
  • Shedding/thinning hair
  • Weight gain
  • Decrease in skin laxity
  • Melasma
  • Redness/rosacea
  • Vitamin deficiencies
  • Lack of sleep – poor circulation/puffiness around the eyes
  • Skin changes – dry and itchy skin

Treatment for menopause symptoms

  • Hot flushes/excessive sweating happens where you have suddenly experienced hot or cold, particularly in the face, neck, and chest, which can cause prominent excessive sweating, as well as dizziness.
An example of a suitable treatment to help this would be Hyperhidrosis. Link for more information

  • Headaches and migraines may develop stubborn or intense headaches during this time. Women who already suffer from migraines may notice that the pain has intensified.
An example of a suitable treatment to help this would be Botox. Link to for more information

  • Increase in facial/body hair usually develops on the upper lip, chin, breasts, and lower stomach. These hairs are typically very pigmented and coarse.
  • Shedding/thinning hair is where women notice more obvious hair fall out, particularly when washing or brushing hair. Some women notice a general thinning or weakening of the hair all over the head.
An example of a suitable treatment to help this would be PRP or Mesotherapy. Link for more information

  • Weight gain can be an effect of menopause due to the decrease of hormone levels. This could slow down the metabolism to cause this. A typical area of this is usually around the stomach and face but can vary depending on the individual.
  • An example of a suitable treatment to help this would be Aqualyx. Link for more information
  • Decrease in skin laxity is caused by the general ageing of the skin. The skin can become looser and more fragile. This is commonly noticed on the jowls and the neck; however, some notice it across the hands.
Please find links to suitable treatments below for more information.

  • Melasma is the skin condition referring to patches of hyper-pigmentation on the skin. This can appear to be more intensified during or after menopause as the hormonal imbalance can cause pigmentation. Most common areas for melasma are the upper lip, cheekbones, and forehead. An example of a suitable treatment to help this would be either MeLine or Dermamelan. Please find the link to these treatments below for more information.
  • Redness/Rosacea can appear across the skin, most typically across the nose and the apples of the cheeks. This can be the case where hot flushes and excessive sweating are present. Redness and rosacea can also flare up with extreme weather conditions, both when its very cold, and very hot.
An example of a suitable treatment to help this would be either IPL or our Rosacea facial. Please find the link to these treatments below for more information.

  • Vitamin deficiencies can impact moods and energy. During menopause, if some women experience any anxiety or mood swings, taking vitamin supplements or vitamin injections can help to boost energy. An example of a suitable treatment to help this would be some vitamin injections. Please find the link to this treatment below for more information.
  • Lack of sleep can caused by caused by night sweats and hot flushes but can also leave you feeling quite irritable and tired. As well as this, it can cause some dark circles under the eyes due to poor circulation and lymphatic drainage around the eyes.
An example of a suitable treatment to help this would be Mesotherapy. Please find the link to this treatment below for more information.

  • Skin changes such as dry and itchy skin can be caused by the loss of skin laxity, as our skin doesn’t hold our natural hyaluronic acid as well as slowing the cell turnover in our skin. As a reaction to the hormone reduction, adult acne may be experienced too.
An example of a suitable treatment to help this would either our Cell-Age facial, or Microdermabrasion. Please find the link to these treatments below for more information.
