Dr Barbara Kubicka discusses why patients may choose to have treatment and the importance of understanding the full picture.
She explains that some patients have been concerned about a feature for a long time e.g. a round face or asymmetry. Other patients have a skin problem or an issue with the way their body looks.

Most of the work is focused on the face, although the work at Clinicbe can touch on how a person feels about themselves, which can be related to their view on how they look. So a patient with acne can have emotional as well as aesthetic concerns.
Dr Kubicka explains:
“At the end of the day I’m a doctor and part of my profession is to deliver a service – to do the procedure – but the bigger part is to treat the condition, to treat the human being.”
So clinical and technical skills are important but treating the patient as a whole is key to helping the patient to feel good and look good. Understanding the reasons for the patient seeking treatment have to be understood.
