Carboxytherapy

Advanced CO2 Treatment for Skin & Hair

Carboxytherapy is an innovative treatment which offers effective results in a wide array of applications, from treating skin conditions and the signs of ageing to non-surgical hair restoration.

Carboxytherapy involves microinjection of medical grade CO2. Depending on the area being treated, this can be done ‘subcutaneous’ or ‘intradermal’. This means either beneath the skin in the fat layer, or into the skin’s dermis layer.

Carboxytherapy treatment works in a number of ways:

  1. Increases oxygen supply to tissues
  2. Kick-starts the body’s own healing and renewal processes
  3. Increased blood flow

This results in new cell growth and improved circulation.

  • Hair loss
  • Acne
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Dark circles
  • Skin laxity
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Post-surgical oedemas
  • Cellulite
  • Stretch marks
  • Scars
  • Circulatory issues
  • Adipose tissue reduction

How Carboxytherapy Works

how carboxytherapy works steps

Eye rejuvenation/dark circles

We recommend carboxytherapy for brightening and firming the under-eye contours and have seen great results in the treatment of dark circles and eye bags. The skin around and beneath the eyes tends to be quite thin. Dark circles also indicate poor blood circulation in the area. Carboxytherapy acts by boosting oxygen, stimulating the blood circulation and causing it to normalise.

FAQ

Clinicbe in Knightsbridge, London offers the DIOX system of carbon dioxide therapy. This patented technology gives the practitioner control of flow rate, injection time and total dose via an intelligent touch screen interface. It also has specialised software with digital sensors for temperature control and filters for precise control of CO2.

The system is exceptionally safe. high and low pressure sensors to provides additional safety measures.

Carboxytherapy can be used both as a stand-alone treatment, or in conjunction with other therapies such as microneedling, high frequency or injectables.

It depends on the condition being treated. We’re happy to advise further.

The most common treatments carried out are:

  • Anti-ageing/skin rejuvenation
  • Hair loss, including beard and eyebrow growth
  • Scar repair and reduction

It depends on the condition being treated. Some skin concerns respond quickly to just one session of carboxytherapy. For other conditions, a short course of treatments may be suggested for best results, as each session builds on the previous for better and better outcome.

  1. Carboxytherapy delivers micro injections of sterile CO2 to infuse gaseous carbon dioxide into the subcutaneous or dermal tissue. Carbon Dioxide is a naturally occurring gas in the body, so this is quite a natural concept.
  2. The body interprets the extra CO2 as an oxygen deficit. The body’s response to this is to increase blood flow, providing a surge of oxygen and nutrients to the treated area.
  3. The increased blood flow triggers cell renewal responses in the tissue. This also stimulates the breakdown of fat cells and scar tissue.
  4. Carboxytherapy also has effects on vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGF). It stimulates neoangiogenesis and fibroblast synthesis, consequently leading to better wound healing and collagen production.

This is not normally an uncomfortable treatment, although it depends on the area being treated. If required, we can offer a local anaesthetic cream so that treatment is painless.

An ice pack will be available if required to calm any swelling immediately after treatment.

Absolutely, carboxytherapy works well with mesotherapy, PRP, chemical peels and injection lipolysis.

Combination is safe and cost effective with better results and less down time. Carboxytherapy accelerates wound healing, which is why it works well with injectables.

  • For patients with Stretch marks, Carboxytherapy into the stretch marks stimulates collagen production which then remodels and shrinks the stretch mark to improve the appearance. Amazing results are achieved when used in combination with Dermapen (micro-needling).
  • For body, to improve skin texture especially for cellulite by improving circulation to the affected area dramatically, Carboxytherapy can be safely combined with mesotherapy.
  • For body sculpting to break down unwanted fatty deposits, Carboxytherapy can be combined with fat dissolving injections (Aqualyx/Celluform) or with cryotherapy for centimetre loss. Post liposuction irregular adiposities which are a common phenomenon, are evened out.
  • For hair loss or Alopecia, Carboxytherapy is combined with PRP/mesotherapy with growth factors and peptides to stimulate hair growth.
  • For dark circles under the eyes, Carboxytherapy is combined with chemical peel or aminotherapy. Results: we trick the body into increasing the oxygen flow, improve appearance of dark circles (exfoliation) and delivering amino-acids, vitamins and hyaluronic.
  • For the upper knees and bingo wings we can either combine Carboxytherapy with fat dissolving injections (Aqualyx/Celluform) or with mesotherapy to improve saggy skin for new collagen stimulation.

Patients can usually return to work or normal activities immediately after treatment.

This depends on the condition being treated and we will advise on this during your consultation. We can also advise before you book if that’s helpful.

Some results are seen very quickly, but others may require a little time for the body’s responses to work, whether that is in renewing skin cells or breaking down fat/wounds.

Carboxytherapy is known as a ‘green’ treatment due to it’s regenerative properties. The treatment particularly appeals to clients looking for a natural approach to anti-ageing, skin and hair treatments.
It uses CO2 which is a naturally occurring substance. There are no chemicals or invasive processes involved. It uses carbon dioxide to trigger the body’s natural responses.
