The concept was developed by Dr Barbara Kubicka, who recognised in her clients a need to provide appropriate treatment options for skin of all ethnicities.
As an experienced Aesthetic Physician, Dr Kubicka recognises the differing needs and concerns of non-Caucasian skin.
Having spent 2 years working in Lagos, Nigeria; she has extensive first-hand knowledge of treating patients with black and Asian skin tones.
She explains:
“Skin of colour actually requires a completely different treatment approach. Many practitioners are either unaware of the differences or simply refuse to treat the conditions that commonly present in skin of colour, such as hyperpigmentation or acne, due to concerns over the safety and lack of awareness of how to adapt treatment protocols.
“Treating skin of colour does require a different approach; but the key is to manage the risks of any treatment while ensuring that it is effective.
“There are actually a host of treatments that can be effective in improving the condition and appearance of the skin.”
She established Clinicbe Skin of Colour as a centre of excellence, which welcomes and specialising in serving the needs of all patients.
