Dr Kubicka commented that it has been ‘the norm’ to dye grey hair for many years – particularly for women keen to retain a more youthful appearance. However, she noted a shift towards embracing natural hair including colour. She says this is
“…supported by a broader trend valuing authenticity, self-acceptance, and challenging traditional beauty standards.”
Dr Kubicka concluded:
“Celebrities play a significant role in shaping beauty standards and trends, influencing perceptions of grey hair.
“Public figures who embrace their natural hair or choose distinctive styles inspire fans and the broader public to follow suit, fostering a more inclusive conversation about ageing and beauty and encouraging others to embrace their natural hair.”
