PRP stands for platelet rich plasma therapy and involves using a purified sample of the patient’s own blood to access the powerful healing agents within plasma. Using the plasma solution for hair loss involves applying the plasma back into the patient’s scalp for the healing benefit to be released.

Tatler’s journalist described the experience:

Like the famous ‘vampire facial’, this involves taking blood from your arm, spinning it around in a centrifuge, then creaming off the growth-factor-rich platelets.

These are then reinjected into the area to be treated: a targeted turboboost for flagging follicles.

The objective is to rejuvenate and stimulate the scalp area, providing a healthy scalp which is more able to produce and retain hair.

Back in the barber’s chair in Tommy Guns’ Soho salon, where I’ve been having my hair cut for the past seven years…

The  results of the PRP are as clearly written across Tom’s face as they are across my head.

‘It’s insane,’ remarks Tom, who can’t stop poking and prodding the new growth. ‘It’s like land reclamation up here.’

Non-Surgical Hair Loss Treatments, Belgravia, London

The advantage of PRP therapy is that it offers a non-surgical option for dealing with thinning hair, using advanced aesthetic science to harness the body’s own natural healing agents. It is a much more agreeable and cost-effective solution than surgery for many patients, as it works in harmony with the body’s own processes.

Dr Kubicka at Clinicbe in Knightsbridge has offered PRP for hair loss patients for a couple of years. This is one of a selection of hair growth stimulation treatments for men and women who are suffering with thinning hair, receding hairlines or the appearance of balding on the scalp or crow of the head.

She has found PRP especially effective combined with other treatments such as vitamin injections.

Dr Barbara Kubicka has also developed her own unique and comprehensive approach to hair loss, known as the Triple Synergy Hair System which combines vitamin injections and mesotherapy together with PRP for a full programme of hair loss treatment designed to boost the health of the scalp.

The Knightsbridge clinic offers a range of anti-ageing and medical skin treatments and serves patients who live and work in West London, including Knightsbridge, Chelsea and Mayfair.
