As seen in the Expressexpress

Clinicbe founder Dr Barbara Kubicka provided expert advice about psoriasis for the Express, outlining the common lifestyle factors that could make it worse.

Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition that is characterised by red, scaly and rough patches of skin. The skin can feel itchy, sore or both; making it a very uncomfortable condition for the sufferer.

It is caused by overactive immunity in the body, which causes skin cells to grow too quickly.

Dr Barbara Kubicka MD told the Express:

“It is believed that both genetic and environmental factors play a role in the development of psoriasis.”

She outlined common lifestyle factors that could trigger a worsening in psoriasis symptoms:

  1. Stress
  2. Smoking
  3. Excessive alcohol
  4. Lack of exercise
  5. Certain medications

Dr Kubicka explained:

“Certain medications, such as lithium and beta-blockers, can also make psoriasis symptoms worse.”
