Platelet Rich Plasma

Non-surgical hair restoration expert Dr Barbara Kubicka has invested in new technology to offer an even better form of PRP hair loss treatment.

Clinicbe is renowned for its use of platelet rich plasma, both in skin and hair treatments. The investment in advanced technology from PRGF Endoret means that the quality of PRP that can be produced is even better and richer in natural healing properties and Growth Factors to promote healthier scalp and hair.

What is PRP?

“Platelet rich plasma” is a very refined concentration of a blood sample that is taken from the patient. Blood is made up of red cells, white cells and platelets and it is the platelets that are responsible for healing any injuries. PRP is prepared in a centrifuge, where it is concentrated to be highly rich in platelets which, when injected back into the body, can aid healing and repair. In fact, the treatment was originally used for burns victims, where it helped the skin to recover and regrow. It has also been used in treatment of sports injuries.

The same principle applies to androgenetic alopecia hair loss. PRP can be used to help regrow hair by reversing the process and helping follicles to recover.

Research & Evidence

Evidence is encouraging:

  • 2019 systemic review of the research on PRP as a treatment for hair loss published in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery journal found in most of the studies found that injections of PRP reduced hair loss, increased the diameter of hairs and improved hair density
  • 2019 systematic review published in Dermatologic Surgery concluded that most studies reported that PRP treatments led to hair regrowth in those with androgenetic alopecia and alopecia areata.
  • Review of clinical studies in International Journal of Women’s Dermatology found PRP to be a “promising” treatment for hair loss.
  • ENDORET® (PRGF®) study demonstrated that improved anagen/telogen results vs topical minoxidil
    • ENDORET® (PRGF®) improves 1.5 times anagen hair growth vs treatment with Minoxidil
    • ENDORET® (PRGF®) decreases 2.2 times telogen hair growth vs treatment with Minoxidil

PRP increase in anagenPRP decrease in telogen

At Clinicbe, many patients have had good results from incorporating PRP hair treatment into their hair recovery programmes. See before and after pictures.
